Hi, I’m Reina, a long-time crocheter and advocate for mindfulness in everyday life. As a neurodivergent individual who has found peace and joy in the rhythm of crochet, I wanted to share this transformative craft with others. As a result, Mindful Crochet was born! Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to unwind with creative projects, you’re in the right place.
My crochet journey began during a particularly stressful time in my life. I had a high risk pregnancy which put me on lots of bed rest. I learned to knit when I was in elementary school but developing arthritis in my hands made knitting next to impossible. One day at the craft store, I found myself in the yarn department (mysteriously) and I picked up a pamphlet on crochet. The hooks were smaller and I could hold it in different positions so it wouldn’t strain my little fingers. I got a book to learn about crochet and I stumbled upon a simple pattern and found that the repetitive stitches quieted my overactive mind. As an autistic person with ADHD, I’ve always searched for tools to help me focus and decompress, and crochet became my lifeline. With 7 kids and dealing with health issues over the years, it’s become more than just a hobby—it’s a mindful practice that helps me stay present, creative, and connected.
This blog isn’t just about teaching you how to make beautiful projects—it’s about creating a space where we can explore the calming, creative power of crochet together. My mission is to help you discover how this craft can be a tool for relaxation, self-expression, and even mindfulness. Here, you’ll find beginner-friendly crochet tutorials, cheat guides, planners, stress-free patterns, and tips for weaving mindfulness into every stitch. Whether you’re looking to learn the basics or want to create meaningful projects, my goal is to make crochet accessible, enjoyable, and rewarding for you.
I’m so excited to share this journey with you! Take a look around, grab some yarn, and let’s get started.
